About ‘Doll House, Miniature Worlds of Wonder

Step inside the doll house and lose yourself in a miniature world of wonder and intrigue.

Exploring the doll house from its traditional form to the space it occupies in the virtual and intangible worlds, Doll House: Miniature Worlds of Wonder will transport visitors into the creative and subversive world of the doll house and miniature life.

From home-made houses to elaborate cabinets of wonder, virtual worlds and their emergence as characters in crime and horror genres, doll houses are both an object of fantasy and a snapshot in time.

Featuring over 35 doll houses drawn from private collections, this exhibition showcases previously unseen houses from the 1890s to the present day. Together with furniture, accessories, ephemera and virtual experiences, Doll House: Miniature Worlds of Wonder unlocks the imagination of makers, collectors, designers and players and reveals the stories hidden in their miniature worlds.

The exhibition runs from the 22nd June to the end of January 2022
